How can certain foods help us burn fat? The truth is, they either help in the elimination of extra fatty acids stocked in the liver or in the muscles, or by hindering their absorption.
Green tea
Powerful antioxidant with a solid reputation. According to studies, green tea slightly raises the metabolism, and therefore the amount of calories used by our bodies at rest. It also diminishes the absorption of dietary fats by diminishing the activity of the digestive enzymes responsible for their absorption. So on your coffee break, substitute your traditional coffee for a good cup of green tea! My favourite? The Svelte Biologique, at David’s Tea…
Oat flakes
Whole grain oat flakes are rich in soluble fibres, and these, mixed with water during digestion, create a gel that considerably slows down the digestive process and limits the absorption of dietary fats. The feeling of satiety is fulfilled while helping to reduce cholesterol and sugar levels in the bloodstream. Enjoying gruel for breakfast will never have been such a temptation! If you are not fond of gruel, know that on the market, there are some oats bran breads, such as Vitalité or Country Harvest.
Salmon
The omega-3 polyunsaturated fats found in salmon contribute to the elimination of fat stocked at the cellular level by activating specific genes, in addition to being a powerful anti-inflammatory and a notorious mood regulator. Savour this fish in every possible ways: tartar, cooked in a foil, in a sandwich, grilled, in a salad… The possibilities are endless!
Trout, mackerel, sardines, white tuna, as well as herring are all fatty fish rich in omega-3. Good omega-3 plant sources are grounded linseed, Chia seeds, shelled hemp, and walnuts, to name only a few.
Bon appétit!
