It’s not the destination that counts, but the journey that takes us so far

We live in a world where looks prevail. I humbly confess being influenced by this model, and that it was my main motivation to lose weight. I started having problems in CEGEP because I was eating at irregular times. The situation only got worse in university. I had to do something, as the last five years of letting myself go were catching up on me.
I first tried to exercise by myself: treadmill, magic pills, online exercise packages, “as seen on TV” devices, etc. Nothing worked for me, while my boyfriend was getting spectacular results at the gym. There was no reason that it wouldn’t work for me as well, so I resigned myself to go to this gym he kept telling me about. Mustering the courage to walk into a gym was the hardest part of this process, but let me assure you that once I had broken the ice, everything fell into place for me.
The staff gained my trust and had me follow a transformation program under the supervision of a personal trainer and a nutritionist. I am only in the beginning stage of my program, yet I see results already. I am proud of what I have accomplished. My previous attempts failed because I wasn’t equipped with the right tools. You can’t have one without the other: without the right tools, you lose motivation, and if you’re not motivated, the rights tools will get you nowhere. Most importantly, I now understand that it’s not the destination that counts, but the journey that takes us so far!
