Doing at least 150 minutes of physical activity a week can greatly improve your health. During the week of November 18 to 24, Nautilus Plus will be opening its doors to the public, inviting them to take part in the 2nd edition of the 150-Minute Challenge which aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits. More specifically, this activity contributes to the Nautilus Plus Educational Leadership Chair in the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.
A look back at a successful first edition!
Last year, for our first edition in November 2023, we donated the sum $94,000 to the leadership chair at Université Laval. A total of 2,300 participants and 150 teams completed 150 minutes of physical activity, contributing to a healthier, fitter Quebec!

Where have your donations gone?
First, we’d like you to know that a website is now online (French only) so you can follow the progress of activities, projects and more for the cause. In fact, over the past year, several projects have been carried out for each of the three targeted objectives.
Objective 1: Enhance courses offered at Université Laval in the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.
New pedagogical activities have already seen the light of day, including two course revisions for the bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and the development of a graduate course on the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits as well as one on mental health for the master’s degree in kinesiology. View details of the enhanced course offered in 2023-2024.
Objective 2: Mobilize and transfer knowledge on the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.
As part of this second objective, Kadia took part in various activities, including the 35th congress of the Fédération des kinésiologues du Québec, held in May 2024. She presented a conference entitled « Propulser le métier de kinésiologue à grande échelle en promotion des saines habitudes de vie ». She also had the privilege of offering the symposium “Les dynamiques de pouvoir dans les partenariats intersectoriels sur la promotion de la santé et du bien-être” as part of the 91st Acfas Congress held at the University of Ottawa. Objective 3: Contribute to the advancement in the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.
For this 3rd objective, the researcher contributed to seven scientific communications on various themes, including mental health and climate change, as well as the role of the promotion of physical activity with patients and professionals in the routine care of cancer patients.

The 2nd edition of the 150-Minute Challenge is fast approaching!
This year, we’ve raised the bar and are aiming for $120,00 in donations, enlisting 3,500 participants and 250 teams to accumulate a total of 600,000 minutes of physical activity completed during the week of November 18 to 24.
The benefits of being active for 30 minutes, at least 5 days a week, are considerable. From preventing the development of many chronic diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease, to improving sleep, reducing stress, improving mental health, concentration and other brain functions, we should all strive to move every day. Because by being physically active, we’re not only helping to improve our own health, but that of Quebec as well!
Prevention through the introduction of healthy lifestyle habits, including regular physical exercise, remains a key means of taking care of ourselves, and the 150-MINUTE CHALLENGE reminds us of the importance of promoting it regularly.
Registration for the 2nd edition of the 150-Minute Challenge has been underway for some time now! This way to participate or donate.
